Antony Makonese

First Mutual Holdings Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Antony Makonese as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Board with immediate effect.

Mr Makonese is a former Chief Finance Officer and Executive Director of a leading local banking institution. His earlier roles include Chief Finance Officer and Company Secretary of a general insurance company, Investments Executive for a private equity firm, as well as other positions in finance and auditing.

He has held several directorships and board committee positions in the past, including chairing various Audit Committees. He currently sits as an independent board member on the NicozDiamond Insurance Limited and First Mutual Microfinance Company boards.

Mr Makonese holds a Bachelor of Accountancy Honours Degree and is a Chartered Accountant. He has attended an executive development programme through Nedbank Duke University, a bank directors’ training programme through Nedbank GIBS, and has attained a Certificate of Proficiency in Retirement Fund Trusteeship through the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe. Among his other achievements, he is an author, and has published two books.
